Aussiepoo’s Appearance, Color, and Coat

Appearance

Aussiepoos are cuddly teddy bears with floppy ears and shaggy fur that come in a variety of sizes. Their look varies greatly since they can have features that are similar to those of their Poodle parent or they can have features that are similar to those of their Australian Shepherd parent. They usually resemble a combination of the two.

Color

The majority of Aussiepoos are multicolored. Their coats can be blue merle, red merle, black and red tri, black and tan (AKA “phantom”), parti, sable, or even a solid color in rare cases. Because merle coloring is a prominent feature, many Aussiepoos are multicolored in a merle pattern, such as a blue merle Aussiedoodle and a red merle Aussiedoodle. The Blue Merle Aussiedoodle is a cross between a Blue Merle Australian Sheperd and a White or Cream Poodle, resulting in a dog with a blue, white, and tan coat. The red merle Aussiedoodle is a mix of Red Merle Aussiedoodle and a white or cream-colored Poodle producing an offspring that is multicolored: red, white, and tan.

Coat

Wavy coats are common in Aussiepoos, but they can also have tighter curls like poodles. Pros:

• High Intelligence: Ausiepoos are called Einstein Canines because they are real genius compared to most Canine Breed. They are highly trainable, very observant, and can follow rules easily. It won’t be a surprise for an Aussiepoo to be able to follow instructions like go to bed or time to bath at a very young age. They require regular mental stimulation to be mentally fit. Aussiepoodle tends to act our destructively if they get bored.
• High Energy Level: Aussie Shepherd Poodle Cross are energy balls. They have a lot of energy to give and they can keep up with extreme physical activities like long hikes, jogging, and retrieval games.
• Non-Aggressive: Aussiedoodle gets along fine with canines and other animals alike. Although they are usually closer and stick with one or two people, they love to be around humans in general too. Despite being a herding dog, Aussiepoo has not been reported to be aggressive to children, adult,s or other animals.
• Herding Capabilities: From their Australian Shepherd lineage, Aussiepoos have herding tendencies making them great babysitters. Their high energy means they can keep up and spend hours playing with your children.
• Goofy and Loving: Aussiepoo is great at making people laugh. They love to share and don’t at the same time. They love playing chase, teasing you by offering their toy as a gift but then running away with it. They’ll eventually give it up, but not before starting an intense game of tug-of-war.

• High Demand for Attention: Aussiepoo requires tons of attention in terms of physical and mental activities. They like to run, walk, and kept busy. Aussiepoos are known to act out when not given the love they need.
• Separation Anxiety: Aussiepoos may have separation anxiety if left alone for too long. They love being with their family at all times and they’d rather be around new faces than be left alone. If you have a daily 8-hour job that requires you to be away from home, having an Aussiepoo might be problematic.

Aussiepoo’s Health Issues

All hybrids including Aussiepoo are known to develop common heath issues from their lineage. There is no way to guarantee that your Aussiepoo will not develop these genetic diseases. Here are some of the common health issues of Aussiepoo you need to watch out for:

• Hip Dysplasia: Hip dysplasia is a painful disorder that occurs when the hip joint loosens. Limping, difficulty standing, unusual seating positions, and unexplained lameness are all common symptoms. Early detection can assist to prevent the onset of arthritis.
• Progressive retinal atrophy: Aussiepoos become blind as a result of this condition. Unfortunately, this is inherited from purebred parents who are also suffering from the same issue.
• Ivermectin sensitivity: The Aussiepoo’s drug sensitivity was passed down through its Australian Shepherd ancestors. Some of them are unable to prevent any medication from entering their brain and spinal cord, resulting in severe drug responses. Before any drug is given to them, they must be examined by blood testing.
• Cataracts: Cataracts cause the eye lens to become cloudy, resulting in vision loss. An evident cloudiness of the eye, as well as evidence of severe vision loss such as inability to detect items and knocking into objects, are common symptoms.

Caring for AussiePoo

• Regular grooming and bathing are required for all dogs not only for Aussiepoodle. Make sure to brush their hair on a daily basis or at least 3 times a week to prevent tangles and mattes, especially during the spring and fall season when they are switching from their summer to winter coat. Aussiepoodle is sensitive to Ivermectin Sensitivity, a condition that results from flea and ticks medication so it is best to ensure that they dont get parasites on their coat. Aussiepoo also needs a haircut every 8 to 12 weeks. For curlier coats, Aussiepoos need more frequent trimming.
• Check their ears for debris and pests daily and clean them as recommended by your vet. Floppy ear dogs are prone to bacterial and yeast infections, so keeping your dog’s ears clean and dry is of utmost importance. To maintain fresh breath and good oral health, frequent tooth brushing is also essential.
• As mentioned above, Aussiepoos needs both physical and mental stimulation. They require at least 1 hour of walk or jog time and 30 minutes of playtime every day. Additionally, they will need mental stimulation activities like puzzles, hide and seek, and other cognitive games.
• Regular visits to your Aussiepoo’s veterinarian for health and care reasons is also important. As soon as you adopt a Mini Cavapoo, visit your vet for an overall check-up. Before letting your Mini Cavapoo Puppy socialize especially with other canines, get them fully vaccinated first. Poodle offsprings are susceptible to food and environmental allergens so ask your vet to check for allergies.
