2 Types of Cavapoo

There are 2 types of Cavadoodle, A toy cavapoo, and a miniature cavapoo. The type of your cavapoo is the main determining factor in how heavy can your cavadoodle puppy get.

  • Miniature Cavapoo

Miniature Cavapoo is a mixed breed of a Miniature Poodle that weighs 10 to 15 pounds and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel weighing 13 to 18 pounds. They usually reach their adulthood after 11-13 months. Full grown mini Cavapoo will weigh around 13 -25 pounds.Fact: Because the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small dog, it is rarely crossed with a Standard Poodle. As a result, we don’t have the standard Cavapoo. However, because Mini Cavapoos are larger than Toy Cavapoos, some breeders refer to them as “Standard” or “Medium.”

  • Toy Cavadoodle

The Toy Cavadoodle is a mixed breed of a Toy Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The parent toy poodle is generally no taller than 10 inches and weighs between 4 – 6 pounds. Since a toy cavapoo is a smaller breed, it will make them faster to reach adulthood. This type of cavapoo can reach adulthood at 8 months to 1 year. Typically, the full-grown adult Toy Cavapoo weighs about 7 – 13 pounds

Cavapoo Weight Chart

Your Cavapoo Puppy’s expected weight is estimated in the chart below. In many cases, the actual weight is more than or equal to what is shown in the chart. If your Cavapoo’s weight exceeds any of the numbers in the chart, don’t worry. It’s good to be a few pounds over as long as your pup is keeping up with its physical activities regularly. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Because there are so many variables, no single puppy weight chart can accurately predict how big your puppy will be as an adult. Puppy siblings, like human babies, will always be different in terms of size, temperament, growing pace, and other factors. The charts on this page represent ESTIMATED cavapoo puppy weights and should only be used as a guide. In terms of growth and potential size, mixed breed puppies like cavapoos are quite unpredictable. Although there are numerous methods for estimating how much your pup will weigh when fully grown, it is not an exact science, and many cavapoo puppies have proven to be exactly what their owners DID NOT expect!AgeToy Cavapoo (Kg)Mini Cavapoo (Kg)1 Month0.4 Kg0.9 Kg2 Months0.6 Kg1.3 Kg3 Months0.8 Kg1.8 Kg4 Months1.1 Kg2.7 Kg5 Months1.2 Kg3.2 Kg6 Months1.4 Kg4 Kg7 Months1.5 Kg5 Kg8 Months1.6 Kg5.6 Kg9 Months1.6 Kg5.9 Kg10 Months1.8 Kg6.4 Kg11 Months1.9 Kg7.3 Kg12 Months2 Kg8.2 Kg

What If My Cavapoo Is Not The Right Weight?

© steve.woods4Every dog is different in terms of size and weight. It’s difficult to predict how big a puppy will grow while it’s still a baby. This is especially true with mixed breeds like cavapoo. Because Cavapoos come from two different breeds (Poodle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), their weight varies depending on the attributes they inherit and which parent’s characteristics are dominant. Despite having the same parent dog, cavapoos come in a variety of sizes, according to reports from multiple cavapoo owners.

There are 3 Main Factors that Affect the Weight and Development of Cavapoo Puppy

  1. Genetics

Cavapoos are a mixed breed of dog. As a result, the traits it inherited from its parent dog has a significant impact on its weight. Although the poodle parent’s weight is usually more dominant, the cavapoo offspring might nevertheless be smaller or larger than its poodle parent.

  1. Nutrition

If your cavapoo appears to be underweight or malnourished, make the necessary changes to its nutrient intake. The amount of minerals and vitamins in your Cavapoo puppy’s food will affect its ability to grow. If you suspect your puppy isn’t getting enough nutrients, you may need to change the type of dog food he’s eating or add supplements. Always consult your veterinarian for advice and suggestions.

  1. Physical Activity

Eating less is not a good strategy if your dog is significantly over its expected weight. This can easily result in malnutrition. With a well-balanced diet and regular exercise, your Cavapoo can meet all of its developmental milestones. Physical activities allow them to develop bone density and the attainment of the ideal weight without jeopardizing your cavapoo’s nutrition. This said, as long as you know that proper nutrition, diet, and exercise are being followed, you dont have to worry if your cavapoo is above or below its expected weight. However, if you want to be cautious, you can check in with your vet to discuss the growth of your cavoodle.

Common Health Problems of Cavapoo

  • Patellar Luxation is a painful knee cap condition that sometimes requires surgery to correct.
  • Mitral Valve Disease is a heart murmur caused by mitral valve leakage. It can progress to congestive heart failure if not detected and treated.
  • Hip Dysplasia is a congenital hip issue that causes discomfort and makes walking difficult. This is a problem common for larger dogs, but it also affects smaller breeds.
  • Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) is a degenerative eye condition that affects photoreceptor cells. It will cause blindness if left untreated.
  • Tracheal Collapse is a condition in which the trachea rings lose their rigidity and strength. As a result, this may lead to breathing difficulty.

Cavapoos are small bundles of joy with so much love to give. They effortlessly took their place as a loyal companion or cute little family addition. It is no wonder why a lot of people want to adopt a Cavapoo. But bear in mind that Cavapoo puppies are just like any puppies: they dont know how to behave especially in their early puppyhood. Training is still necessary to ensure a well-behaved, yet still curious and will playful Cavapoo.

Note: Cavapoo size and weight chart are fairly accurate for first-generation Cavapoo. However, the accurate size and weight get harder to predict when mixing cavapoos together where the proportion of each parent breed varies.
